EWRümlang – Website for the Local Energy Utility

As a cooperative, Elektrizitätswerk Rümlang supplies around 90 percent of the municipality with electricity – roughly 50 million kilowatt hours per year, 100 percent from renewable sources. Added to this are grid services, fibre and broadband connections and a broad range of services from meter readings to outage reports.

The energy world is changing rapidly – and with it the questions customers ask: What does a local energy solution offer? How does a self-consumption community (EVG) work? What applies when feeding solar power back into the grid, and how are tariffs composed? The website we developed in 2025 answers exactly these questions: clearly presented, well structured and with direct paths to forms and contacts.

Technically, the site is built on Craft CMS: tariffs, news, service pages and outage reports are structured content that the EWR team keeps up to date itself. The myEWR customer portal and the smart meter rollout are prominently anchored in the header – making the website both an information platform and a service hub.

The design combines EWR's red brand world with a friendly, bright visual language around solar energy and village life – including playful details such as the day-night toggle in the hero. For customer questions around the clock, Odeo is integrated – Sidora's AI chatbot – providing answers on tariffs, services and energy topics directly on the website.

The result is a web presence that makes the energy transition tangible at municipal level – as approachable as the cooperative itself and technically ready for the topics of tomorrow.
