ABZ Koch-Quartier – WordPress Development with Custom Gutenberg Blocks and eMonitor API
For the Koch-Quartier of Allgemeine Baugenossenschaft Zürich (ABZ) – 204 non-profit apartments across low-rise buildings and the cooperative's first high-rise – we handled the technical implementation of the rental website. The project was commissioned by the partner agency Partner & Partner: the concept and design come entirely from Partner & Partner, while we took on the development as their technical implementation partner.
We built the website on WordPress with a thoroughly block-based architecture. To render the design created by Partner & Partner pixel-perfectly while keeping it flexibly editable, we developed bespoke Gutenberg blocks. This lets ABZ assemble content and pages independently in the editor without breaking the design concept.
At the heart of the development is the integration with the eMonitor real-estate platform via its API. The "apartment finder" pulls available apartments live from eMonitor and presents them with filters – by building (low-rise or high-rise), apartment type, position within the high-rise, as well as subsidised and barrier-free units. This is complemented by a member login and a clearly guided application process, turning an information site into a working rental portal.
The result is a high-performance, maintainable WordPress solution with a clean interface to the eMonitor platform and a flexible block system – a reliable technical implementation of Partner & Partner's concept that digitally maps the first-time rental of the Koch-Quartier.
